DPA Denver Pale Ale - Great Divide Brewing Co.

So yesterday I went to KJ Barrons in Worcester and picked up a few intriguing ales that I have never seen before, and one of them being the DPA, Denver Pale Ale by the Great Divide Brewing Company. (The beverages were purchased at random, I've never heard anything about these, so I had to try them).

The DPA is an English style classic ale, fairly malty, and "an equally hearty complement of hop aroma, flavor, and bitterness" (Couldn't of said it any better than that!). I poured the DPA into a chilled glass mug. It has a orange-gold color to it, light white froth, and you could actually see particles of yeast floating around, which I've never seen before. I could smell the aroma of honey and citrus, and it tasted of honey, a hint of citrus, and almost a light floral taste to it. It's a pretty light ale and I was expecting it to be a bit heavier than it was, but I really enjoyed this one. The DPA was lightly carbonated, which I really enjoyed (I feel that high carbonation is a bit annoying, and really takes away the enjoyment of tasting the beer itself). I would definitely drinking this Ale again (Hopefully on Tap!).

If you know a restaurant, bar, or pub that carried DPA let me know!

The "Naddy Daddy", Brewed by Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

Alright, you must be thinking "Why would I be drinking this crap", and I can honestly tell you... it's not that bad. I've never been a fan of "Nasty Ice" but the Naddy Daddy is actually decent. The only thing that confuses me is that it's labeled a a malt liquor, but you hardly taste the alcohol. It tastes more like a highly carbonated beer than anything else.

The taste is actually not harsh, that's why I mentioned it doesn't taste like a malt liquor at all. Hints of malt and cereal grains, almost tastes like a Naddy Light. Some Fruity flavors mixed in but Corn seems to be the base. It's light, just like the taste.

Like I said, light and highly carbonated, cannot detect any alcohol, and it's pretty refreshing when it's cold. For only $1.79 for a 24oz can, that's a great deal. It's a "whatever" type of beer, but I'd drink it again.

Enjoy!

Labatt Blue by The Labatt Brewing Co.

Labatt Blue is made by the Labatt Brewing Company in Ontario, Canada, and I knew I wasn't going to like this. I was watching the Pats vs. Titans game last Sunday and my uncle Jason comes over and offers me a Labatt Blue. I said, "what the hell, why not?", so I gave it a good wiff and all it reminded me of was Pabst Blue Ribbon. With Labatt Blue and PBR, it's like, it's not a terrible beer, but it tastes like carbonated dirty water... there's no substance. Sure, it's cheap, but this isn't what I'd like to be drinking during a football game.

Yes, this is a lame review, but it's also a lame beer. If you're into cheap, high carbonated dirty water swill, give it a try.

Enjoy! (uhg)

Narragansett Lager by the Narragansett Brewing Co.

Hello everyone! For this review, I've been drinking Narragansett Lager by the Narragansett Brewing Company (I've had it several times before), and it's one of my favorite light beers. You can get this beer for just about $6 for a 6 pack of tall boys, and that's an awesome deal! You can also get them in bottles, and on tap, but I prefer having my 'Gansett in a can. This beer is also brewed in Providence, RI, not far from where I live!

'Gansett has a nice yellow color to it, almost reminds me of a fall yellow color. When smelling the beer I had hints of an apple scent, mixed with pears, grains, and honey. On the palate, I can taste apple, sweet grains and it finishes off with a pear taste and a light, earthy hops taste.

It has a light body, dry, but not as crisp. This beer is pretty juicy and sweet.

All and all you really can't beat the taste of this great light beer, or the price. Better than most of that sappy pappy swill that most college kids happen to drink. So please! If you've never tried this go to your local packy and pick up a sixer of tall boys, you will be pleased.

Enjoy!

Arrogant Bastard Ale - Stone Brewing Company

The Arrogant Bastard Ale is an awesome American Strong Ale created by the Stone Brewing Company. I've got to say, I'm not really into stronger beers but this was incredibly smooth and pretty refreshing. It was one of the best tasting beers I've ever had, and after every sip, you just had that taste lingering in your mouth for awhile. You can immediatly taste the harsh wood taste, but then it's cut off by a sweet/citrus taste, definitely making it a very unique beer for me. The color of the beer astounded me, cause I've never seen a beer that deep red before! Gorgeous color. I was also actually suprised to see how carbonated it was, since it's thicker than a lot of beers I've tasted, making it incredibly refreshing.

I'm going to have to thank my pal Ian for turning me onto this beer, it was incredible! And I can definitely say this is one of the best beers I've ever had. Please go out and give it a try, since it's served all year round, an it can be found in 22oz bottles, growlers, casks, and on tap.

Enjoy!

Jake.
